    Li’l Sprouts Academy

    Starting September 6, 2022 volunteers will join our team to help alongside our Program Directors and Coordinators by assisting our Li’l Sprouts Academy participants in classroom and garden activities. Students will gain skills in organizing, planning, and improving their communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.

    MicrONEsian Youth Forum

    Join our MicrONEesian Youth Forum, where you can learn and connect with different high school students around the island! The youth forum will be guided by subject matter experts who will engage students in facilitated discussions on the following topics: Drugs & Alcohol Prevention, College Awareness and Career Readiness, Environmental Stewardship, and Cultural Preservation and Identity. After the MicrONEsian Youth Forum event, students will work together for a span of 3 weeks to create an awareness project based on their respective groups. The hours accumulated for the awareness project, will count towards their service learning hours.

    Micronesia Climate Change Alliance (MCCA) is a grassroots network of individuals and organizations dedicated to creating community-centered solutions to climate change. 

    The Micronesia Climate Change Alliance (MCCA) is a non-profit organization that is requesting for students to join their team in creating a clean island for future generations! More info can be found on our Instagram at @micronesiaclimatealliance

    Positive Life Academy

    Join the Positive Life Academy, where you can learn positive decision making and leadership skills to help you improve yourself mentally and physically as you navigate life in this ever-changing world.

    Peer Support at JFKHS 2021-2022

    If you are interested in teaching or helping students who have disabilities, Ms. San Nicolas at JFKHS is providing this service learning opportunity to give these special students support. If you do not attend JFKHS and would like to use this project as a model, please do. You can either find a teacher at your school who would support you, or contact Ms.San Nicolas at JFK for guidance on how to proceed.

    MONTHLY OBSERVANCES

    Ideal for individuals or small groups of students. Research work can be primarily online. Find out what the monthly observances are for each month in the year and have students work in groups to find out what the national observances mean and if there are any colors that go with the cause.

    Island Girl Power Mentoring and Leadership Classes

    Ideal for students interested in teaching or social services. The Scope of volunteer work will involve supervising activities, teaching a class or providing mentorship to a young IGP Member ages 7-14yrs. An example of classes that we are looking for are art, cooking, automotive, music, theater, computer, book clubs, dance, cultural arts and so much more.

    Reach Out and Read (Early Literacy Project )

    Ideal for individuals or small groups of students. Support this project of Island Girl Power/ The Ayuda Foundation. REACH OUT AND READ seeks to work with highly motivated volunteer readers in the community and schedule them to read to children that are generally underserved at our various Public Health Centers across the island.

    Guam Earth Bucket

    Ideal for individuals or small groups of students. Large groups can be done given space, equipment and materials are easy to find. Preferred location to facilitate project is at the student’s home, youth center or community location. This project uses mostly recycled items and allows the student to work from home in cases of transportation issues.

    Community Garden

    Excellent project for a group of students. Can be done through UOG Cooperative Extension or Island Girl Power Community Garden Locations.
