The mission of the Guam Commission for Educator Certification is to ensure that all certified Guam educators responsible for the education of our children are competent to perform their duties as teachers, school counselors, librarians, and school administrators. To prepare for this project, please submit: your proof of vaccination, a resume' (if available), and a current report card. You will need a teacher or counselor who can sponsor you and be able to submit your earned service learning hours into Power School. GCEC Staff are looking for students who are able to give attention to detail, who have good attendance, who can demonstrate customer service skills, and who can work well with others. Students will be responsible for their own transportation to the job site, which is at the University of Guam (303 University of Guam, School of Education Room 105, 1st Floor, Mangilao Guam).
Student intern will be: greeting clients (educators) who will be inquiring about the certification process for the state of Guam; designing branding and rebranding; updating social media accounts and website; photocopying; handling and filing records; responding to phone calls and directing them to staff; able to lift 10-25 lbs; other tasks as assigned.
GCEC would like interns who can work 24 hours in the quarter, going in 2 times a week for 1 to 3 hours at a time.
In order to earn service learning hours, a reflection needs to be turned into a teacher or counselor who can then input the hours into Power School. You need to address: What did you do? How was this an example of my learning (marketing, technology, operations)? How was this an example of public service? Provide a reflection of your GCEC work experience, skills learned, and how you can implement these skills in your daily or future life.
Desired Student Outcomes: Understanding of marketing/operations event principles from the point of view of the planner. Recall events, especially customer service highlights.
