If you are interested in teaching or helping students who have disabilities, Mrs. San Nicholas at JFKHS is providing this service learning opportunity to give these special students support.
You will create products celebrating the holidays for students in the Resource Room. All products will include vocabulary words to support their learning of language. You may also assist students with disabilities in recreational games or class work to increase all students' self-esteem.
Preparation Instruction:
See Ms. San Nicolas in D213 for instructions.
Activity Instruction:
After arranging a schedule and the service learning activity with Mrs. San Nicholas, please follow her instructions on what your task will be in working with these students.
Reflection Instruction:
In order for students to earn Service Learning hours, you will need to submit a reflection demonstrating the service learning. You should address: What did you do? What did you learn? What character traits did I demonstrate in this project? (trustworthiness, honesty, courtesy, respect, responsibility, accountability, self-reliance) What was the service? How did I feel about being able to help students who have special needs?
