Most activities are outside around wooded trails and cliff wall areas as well as the beach strand. Dress comfortably, suggest closed-toe shoes, pants or shorts, cool wear shirt, hat, bring refillable water bottle to stay hydrated. If prone to insect bites, please bring your own insect repellent. Meet at the Nature Center at the Guam National Wildlife Refuge at Puntan Litekyan (aka Ritidian Beach) by 8:45. You will need to get a safety briefing and sign volunteer forms. Minors need to have parent/guardian sign the Volunteer Agreement and Waiver form. Contact Emily Sablan, using info below, to get forms if you need them ahead of time.
The clean up is scheduled to start at 9:00 and end at noon. Most of the work will require physical movements like: reaching, stooping, grabbing and pulling as you clear vegetation from obstructing the trails. Gloves will be provided for safety, only light cutting tools (like scissors or loppers) will be used.
You can take a break and enjoy the Earth Day activities that are scheduled. From 1-2:00 p.m., you can participate in a new program, the Pollinator Pathway Planting. You can be one of the first to plant native flowering plants in our newly constructed pollinator pathway garden!

In order to earn service learning hours, a reflection needs to be turned in to a teacher who can input the hours into Power School. You need to address: What did you do? What did you learn? What is the purpose of the Refuge and how did you help with its mission? How was this an example of public service? What would you like to share with the public and /or Refuge personnel about your experience here?
The main objective of our programs is to: Improve and increase viability of aquatic and terrestrial habitats and improve ecological functions of the Refuge to support sustainable populations of valuable indigenous/native plants and remaining native animal species.
