Create and Critique Prevention Promotion Material

Share your perspective and views of GBHWC PEACE material (PowerPoint slides, pamphlets/brochures, social media posts) with GBHWC PEACE staff.
Research what topic you'd like to create your prevention promotion material(s) on. (For example, 8 Dimensions of Wellness, mental health promotion, or substance use prevention)
With the guidance of GBHWC Staff, create and design the prevention promotion material(s) on Canva with the resources and information you've found and would like your audience to be aware about. Be sure to include citations, if necessary, as well as pertinent information on the topics (5Ws - who, what, when, where, why). (For example, Brochure on Healthy Activities You Can Do to Prevent Substance Use - 1. Crafts, 2. Exercise ...)
Schedule a time/day to present the material(s) to GBHWC PEACE staff and turn in reflection paper.

Preparation Instruction:
  • Reach out to GBHWC's PEACE Office at (671) 477-9083 or [email protected] 
  • Submit Registration and other forms necessary to begin contact hours with GBHWC PEACE.
  • Schedule contact hours to work with GBHWC PEACE to complete project.

Activity Instruction:
 Learn about some of Guam's social issues and the resources available on Guam
Research various ways important messages reach teens and what resources you'd like to create
 
With the guidance of GBHWC PEACE staff, develop the resource directory on Canva or other programs, include the local resources that you've found. Be sure to include information on the resources (5Ws - who, what, when, where, why). (For example, Dededo Activities - Island Girl Power, Kurason I Sengsong's local garden can be found near VSA Benavente Middle School and they provide activities such as ...)
 
Schedule a time/day to present the activity to GBHWC PEACE Staff and turn in reflection paper.

  1. How did this project affect how you feel about these social issues?
  2. How will this information help you in your everyday life?
  3. What ways will you share this information with your friends and the community. 
  4. Why did you choose this project?
  5. How can the material be improved?
  6. What is the best way to reach your friends, families, and community?

  • This certificate can be used to certify your hours of service with Guam Behavioral Health & Wellness Center.
