  • Description

    Searching for 5 Big Sisters
    (FEMALE PARTICIPANTS)  
    for DEDEDO / 5 for MALESSO to assist with various activities. Must devote 2 total Saturdays per quarter in order to complete service learning hours each quarter.
    Research Island Girl Power mission, objectives. Attend volunteer orientation on Saturday mornings 9am. Attend Saturday Girls' Clubhouse Activities either in Malesso or Dededo.

    Must volunteer in order to complete Prep and Action for your 10 service learning hours. Photos may be taken, notify Clubhouse Manager Doreen Mendiola (Dededo) or Sandy Yee (Malesso) about your service project so they can assist you.

    As part of your reflection any photos of the girls must be approved before they are put out publicly. We would also like to receive a copy of your project for our records. Thank you.

    Objective

    Build awareness teens about role modeling, social issues, and the impact of volunteers in the community. Increase leadership skills in our teens and build confidence in their abilities to stay positive. Connect teens with the wonderful work that youth programs facilitate, increase career field knowledge.

    Build Teen Leadership and encourage healthy lifestyles so they emulate positive behaviors for our young members to follow

    Expand the horizon of experiences and build a portfolio for teens to prepare them for adult life and job or college applications.  

    Instructions

    • Research IGP Objectives, mission ensure you are able to dedicate 10 hours to our facility per Semester.
    • Attend an orientation tour at 11am on Saturdays, Sign in regularly for Island Girl Power Clubhouse Saturdays from 9-2pm. Assist coordinators with daily schedule and get involved in each of the activities, provide positive mentoring and role modeling to young ladies to build their self - esteem and encourage participation.
    • Toward the end of your 10 hours pick a cooking, art, dance, music or other class to instruct. You will be supported... but we want you to feel how it is to teach others.
    • Provide us with a copy of your reflection assignment for our records.
