  • Description

    The event is meant to bring the community together to remember the individuals that we have lost from Suicide. Serenity Walk helps us to silently acknowledge the impact of suicide on our community. During this time we give support to eachother and collectively recognize our loss and find encouragement in others to move forward.

    Objective

    * To increase students knowledge of the resources to prevent suicide

    * bring community organizations and survivors together to help heal

    * To provide a safe space for families to come to term with their loss and find strength in others

    * Help students see the affects of suicide on surviving family member

    GDOE Health Standard:

    Work cooperatively as an advocate for improving personal, family, and community health.

    Instructions

    Sign up for your project ONLINE

    Invite your family and friends to come with you

    Make purple or teal ribbons to pass out during event

    Take the SERENITY WALK / LIGHT A CANDLE 

    Make a slide show to honor the event on social media / take respectful pictures to make a poster board to display at school during a PTO / make an educational video to show more people about this event. THESE ARE ALL IDEAS FOR YOUR REFLECTION 

    Share your reflection with the event coordinators so we can share with others. 

     

    Warnings/Notices

    Due to the sensitive nature of SUICIDE please take extra care to not be disrespectful by taking selfies, or taking and laughing during the event. Your presence should be active not sitting in the corner. Get involved and be part of the event.

    This event will take place at ADELUP PARK in front of the Governors Office from 4;00 - 6:30pm 

    DOE Officials will be present to sign your paper, please stay the whole time for full credit.
