  • Description

Sanctuary Incorporated of Guam will be hosting its 7th Annual Youth Festival on Saturday April 29, 2017 at the Guam Museum/ Skinners Plaza in Hagatna from 10:00 am – 7: 00 pm.  This year's theme entitled #manhobenSTRONG will showcase a variety of talents from a diverse group of island youth.

    Career Pathway/Field

Sanctuary reaches out to its island community to help improve the quality of life for our local youth.  One way to do so is to recognize our youth in their continued effort to make better life choices.  Another way to help improve the quality of life for our local youth is to provide outreach and prevention programs that will benefit their choices in life.  Sanctuary is also extending the practice of making positive life choices to Guam Department of Education’s high school students who are in need of service learning. Youth Fest is a great way for students to network with adults and other youth of different cultures.

High School students will be expected to extend lessons taught in their classes as it applies toward developing and supporting Sanctuary's 7th Annual Youth Fest in promoting a better quality of life for our island youth.

Standard 4: Writing Purposes, Processes, and Strategies: Students use a wide range of strategies and resources to gather and synthesize information and use a variety of writing processes to create and communicate knowledge with a variety of audiences for different purpose. Plan, organize, and write a coherent composition using precise language.

Students will be required to complete the following:

    * Preparation (prepare in class). Fill out Volunteer registration forms prior or on the day of the event.

    * Activity (2017 Sanctuary's Youth Fest #manhoben STRONG) Students will have the oppurtunity to visit all the oureach tables and ask questions about their organizations and how they can get involved. Students must check in with the Sanctuary table and pick up a passport before they visit the outreach tables. Students must have the passport stamped from all outreach tables and submit it back to the Sanctuary table in order to get credit for service learning hours.
