  • Description

    Students will learn how to construct 3 x 3 Community Garden Plots and work to complete 20 hours of gardening care and maintenance over 1 semester (6months). Produce will be used by the student for their family or class needs. 

    Garden maintenence involves 2-3 hours per month to result in a fruitful project. Transportation is needed for bi-weekly visits.

    Objective

    To give students and opportunity to learn from other gardeners basic garden care and general planting basics they can use throughout their lives. To connect students with real world issues effecting gardeners and farmers on Guam. To encourage students to research various recipes they can make with their produce.

    Instructions

    Attend monthly meeting on the 3rd Saturday of every month to reserve your plot at $5 for 6 months. Work to take pictures of all the steps involved in setting up your garden. Select types of plants to be grown Plant and Care for them over 6 months,
    Attend one garden meeting per month.  Spend a minimum of 2 hours per week tending to your garden and researching recipes. Be sure to sign in and out each time you visit your garden so hours may be clocked in. When your garden is ready for harvesting make sure to give any extras to senior citizens or family members (please don't allow your harvest to rot away) Upon completion create a video, poster board, or power-point about your experience, please be sure to provide us with a copy.

    Warnings/Notices

    Exposure to sunlight, and nature is required for this project. During garden set up tools use is expected.

    We have 23 medium garden plots for families, these student garden plots are half the size so that they may start gardening at a more manageable level. Located in Dededo
